Hi people,

today here are some useful informations about me. As many of you know I am doing CSS layouts from time to time and there is a bunch of free stuff in my gallery, too. Quite regularly I receive notes from other users with requests and questions concerning CSS. That is fine with me and I always help the people if I can. But I will be honest with you. I am tired of those questions like "Can you do a CSS for me?"

Good work has its Prize

Still about 80% of the people who want me to make something for them expect me to do it for NOTHING!!! Some at least ask me what it would cost to make a CSS or suggest an art trade or something but the majority wants to benefit from my skills and don't intend to give me something in return (except credits or journal features). What do you think how much of spare time do I have? If I would accept all the requests there wouldn't be any time for ANYthing else in my life including earning money for a living. So name me one good reason why I should do a valuable job at no charge?

So please do me a favour and don't ask me for your own personal CSS layout when you can't afford it. Since I started programming and designing I have learned a lot and improved my skills and knowledge. I think learning so much in a long time is worth of an appropriate payment. Otherwise I feel ripped off and that's not a good feeling behind an honorable thought of help.

For all people who still wants an exclusive design done by me - this is what I charge:

The minimum prize for a layout is 100 Euros!

Yeah, that sounds much but it isn't. Have you EVER thought about of how time I deal with one layout from the start with the graphics until a journal is up and faultless running??? A lot of service for the client is included, too. So compared on the efforts on every layout and compared to the prizes on the Graphic Design market 100 Euro is a gift!!! Period.

All old request that are still open will be done as agreed.

I get tired of people assuming I'll do designs for them for free too and I'm nowhere near as accomplished as you are :S I don't blame you for putting your foot down about it.

You do wonderful work as far as CSS is concerned, and I will admit that I envy both you and Dp for that talent...and that is why I purchased a couple of books about CSS...there's no guarantee they'll help me

But I'm sure after a lot of trial and error I will eventually get it.
Afterall, isn't that how most artists get good at what they do---through a lot of trial and error?
Actually , 100 Euros, isn't that expensive...I mean they're getting awesome work for that price.

And I know how annoying it can be to have the same question asked repeatedly--I had a situation like that at work today: One of my co-workers wants me to design a backpiece tattoo for him--I told him I have two prices: Detailed line art on 11x14 paper will cost him $75.00(USD); Detailed colored design on 11x14 will cost $150--that will cover my time and materials used. I also told him that I have a strict stipulation--regardless of whether it is regular line art or colored--- he is to get the original back from the tattoo artist --no exceptions; and if he forgets to do so--- he can forget about asking me to design another tat for him ever again.
I do this because, while most tat artists have morals, there are those who will steal an original work in a heartbeat and claim it as their own.
Basically, after the first 3 or 4 designs which I considered free advertising, I no longer do designs for free.

I certainly understand. I'd ask for my own css if I had the money or had the skills to trade for it, but I don't so I won't. Besides at the moment I don't even have the money to redo my sub here.

Good for you!!!! Quality work deserves to be paid for and 100 Euros is definetly a good price. Everyone wants something for free anymore and then do not appreciate it.

Btw your css is not showing me your words in IE7! I gate as far as "including earning".. maybe add some more space lil.
Everyone who wants a CSS for nothing should go and bother this guy who has a pretty one for free and is a good sort.
[link] There are lots of free templates available if you search DA. Of course none are a patch on Lilyas's work and I think you should throw money at her.. right now!
