here is a nice discussion for you. The Internet is the greatest/worst invention of the 20th century. Let me know what you think!
The Internet is GOOD because- People can have fun (porn, games, dating service).
- Data exchange is rapid (emails, file sharing).
- We can make friends and share pictures, videos and informations easily (social networks, online communities, news groups, forums, blogs).
- It makes business successful, offers many ways to earn money, advertisement reaches customers around the world.
- It makes every day life easier (online shopping, online banking, job-seeking, house-hunting...).
- Every possible information can be found, news go around the world within minutes.
- It makes education, enlightenment and liberation for repressed and poor people possible.
- Everybody can be famous (Youtube, DeviantART)!
The Internet is EVIL because- It opens the floodgates to scam, trickery, viruses, spyware, phishing, slander, data abuse/theft, cyber-mobbing and spread of misinformations.
- It supports criminal activities (child-porn/abuse, manuals for making a bomb, terror calls, incitement to murder etc.)
- The flood of random, unmanageable, useless and superficial informations fries your brain.
- There is no privacy protection. Someone can lose their reputaion, integrity, credibility and prestige.
- It's addictive. You are in danger to replace the real world with a virtual world.
- You waste your time with useless activities.

The only thing that makes it bad or good is the way you use it.
For example, someone can use a knife in order to eat a piece of bread or use it to kill. But this dosen't mean we should stop using knives, because some people use it with a stupid or bad way.
So it's all in how it's used.
